Upcoming UO Tools of the Trade Show

The 32nd annual Tools of the Trade Show – which highlights new art and media products, and brings local, national and international vendors to Eugene - will be held Nov. 6 and 7 at the campus Duck Store.

The event is free and will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. The Tools of the Trade Show offers opportunities to meet and connect with professional artists and vendors to learn more about their techniques, firsthand experiences and knowledge of art and media products.

Current and previous UO faculty and staff will be featured at this year’s show, including Professor Emeritus Ken O’Connell, Mika Boyd from the School of Architecture and Allied Arts, and adjunct professor in book arts Marilyn Reaves.

Other well known Oregon-based artists will also be in at the event, including Brandi York, Trader Joe’s muralist; Alison Brown, Oregon Ducks sculptor; and James Cloutier, winner of the UO’s “Duck Knows Art” contest.

More than 25 vendors in the art and design field will highlight products at the trade show, such as Copic Marker Illustration, M. Graham paints and Gamblin Artist’s Oil Colors.

The event originated in 1981 to help students gain an understanding of materials used in art and architecture classes. It has grown over the decades into a celebrated show that gives vendors and artists an opportunity to share their passion for art and media products.

In conjunction with the Tools of the Trade Show, a 25 percent discount will be offered on art and school supplies (some items are excluded; ask the Creative Duck customer service desk for more information). The event also features door prizes, food sampling from local vendors and wine sampling from Eugene Wine Cellars from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
