Weaving New Beginnings will welcome people of color to campus

The university will welcome students, faculty and staff of color to campus this week during the annual Weaving New Beginnings reception Thursday, Oct. 15.

Weaving New Beginnings is a networking event held each fall and includes a dinner, panel discussion, networking and tables for student organizations and community resources. The theme of this year’s reception is “If Only — Building Your Tool Box of Community and Finding Your Place of Support.”

Since it began 21 years ago, Weaving New Beginnings has offered a way for people of color to connect across campus. It was designed as a way to start the academic year by coming together and finding solidarity and community.

The event will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Erb Memorial Union ballroom. It is free, open to the campus community and family friendly. For information on child care, email multiculturaledu@uoregon.edu.

Weaving New Beginnings is organized by the Division of Student Live and the Office of the Dean of Students with sponsorship by the UO Division of Equity and Inclusion.
