Travel grants and global seminars available

Here’s an opportunity to broaden not just your academic horizons but also your global ones.

The Office of International Affairs has put out a call for proposals for UO Global Seminars and travel grants.

UO Global Seminars are academic programs conducted – in full or in part – in international settings. The seminars are set to launch in 2014-15, including summer 2014.

The office collaborates with departments and faculty who would like to create new opportunities for students to study, research and/or engage in experiential learning abroad.

Faculty directors of UO Global Seminars include Officers of Instruction, Research and Administration who hold the requisite academic credentials and have the support of their employing unit and the credit-granting department.

The CFP for new UO Global Seminars (for programs) is now open.

The office and staff members from AHA International will hold a proposers meeting from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in the EMU Board Room; a light lunch will be served, and RSVP is required to radkins@uoregon.edu to reserve a spot.

The office is also again starting the competitive grant program to support faculty international travel related to new program development. The awards specifically support the "scouting" phase for developing new UO Global Seminars, whether at AHA sites or elsewhere in the world.

There will be multiple awards of up to $3,000 for travel conducted between June 1, 2013, and May 1, 2014.  The grant application deadline is May 10.
