Proposals are due Dec. 20 for student employee summit

Supervisors of students interested in sharing their knowledge with other supervisors are encouraged to speak at the 2020 Student Employee Enhancement Summit.

The summit steering committee is seeking proposals for 45-minute presentations connecting with the summit’s theme, “From Menial to Meaningful: Building Self-Efficacy to Empower Student Employees.” The summit is meant to help supervisors effectively coach, mentor and supervise student employees.

Proposals should either cover at least one component of the student employment life cycle — recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management — describe frameworks for approaching student supervision or give new ideas about student employment. Examples of topics include performance management, creating a sense of belonging in the workplace, dealing with tough conversations, navigating an intergenerational workplace and supporting students with historically marginalized identities.

The summit is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. March 12 in the Erb Memorial Union ballroom.

Proposals are due online by Dec. 20 and supervisors can expect to hear back from the committee by Jan. 10. For more information, contact uosee@uoregon.edu.
