Noodle came up with the list by combining a variety of data, including search engine popularity, Twitter authority, number of Nobel Prize winners and U.S. News & World Report rankings. The website said it strives to be neutral and avoids data that is weighted subjectively.

The list also was featured in a short story on the Business Insider website.

The ranking supports the UO’s position as the only Oregon member of the Association of American Universities, as well as its position among the top 50 public national universities in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list and having the top student retention and graduation rates in Oregon.
