Flu season is in full swing across the U.S., including Oregon. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the good news is that vaccine is 91 percent effective for those who choose to withstand a little prick of the needle. It's not too late for UO employees who have not yet received flu shots to protect themselves and their loved ones this season.
The University of Oregon is turning the tables on would-be vendors, so to speak.Purchasing and Contracting Services, in coordination with Campus Operations and Public and Government Relations, will host the 3rd UO Reverse Vendor Fair in the Club Room at Autzen Stadium on Feb. 27.
1. Where in the world were you? I was in northeast India, this trip particularly Assam and Manipur states. The seven states of Northeast India, altogether about the size of Oregon, are home to something like 200 different languages, most of them pretty much, or completely, unknown to linguists. 2. What work were you doing there?
The May 10 visit to the University of Oregon of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, will be part of a three-day visit by the Tibetan spiritual leader to Oregon. He will be involved in several events at an environmental summit sponsored by Portland's Maitripa College, the Northwest's first Buddhist college.  Maitripa College is hosting the environmental summit from May 9 through May 11.
The University of Oregon's Museum of Natural and Cultural History will open a new exhibit Jan. 18 – called "Site Seeing: Snapshots of Historical Archaeology in Oregon" – that features artifacts from recent excavations by museum archaeologists. The exhibit will run through Dec. 31. The exhibit's opening reception, which is open to the public, will be held a week later, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the museum, 1680 E. 15th Ave.
