Alumni Women's Roundtable draws crowd at UO Portland

This year's 4th annual UO Alumni Women’s Roundtable drew a record turnout of almost 100 attendees earlier this month for a panel presentation that focused on negotiating for pay, promotion and flexibility.

The roundtable, held at the White Stag Block, was free for UO students and 2012 graduates and open to the public with a registration fee. Its four-woman panel – all UO alums – came from a variety of professional backgrounds.

“Broadway Meets Steinway” in UO’s New York concert

University of Oregon School of Music and Dance faculty members Dean Kramer and Claire Wachter will perform a free, two-piano concert at Steinway Hall in New York City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28.

Titled “Broadway Meets Steinway,” the concert will feature George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” and Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story Dances,” as well as other great works for two pianos.

UO, OSU presidents “bullish” on economy

The University of Oregon and Oregon State University expect growth in the state economy this year, UO President Michael Gottfredson said Wednesday, during his keynote discussion at the 2013 Economic Forecast at the Hilton Eugene & Conference Center.

Gottfredson and OSU President Edward Ray outlined the economic development roles of their institutions and urged business leaders and elected officials to work with the universities in enhancing quality of life for Oregonians.

TEDxPortland tickets to go on sale March 25

Tickets will go on sale March 25 for this year's version of TEDxPortland – a day of talks about "ideas worth spreading."

This year's event – the third annual – will be April 27 at the Portland Art Museum. The University of Oregon is a presenting sponsor of TEDxPortland.

Tickets have sold out the first day they became available for the first two years of TEDxPortland. Ticket prices for this year's event will be announced next week. 

Speakers and performers have been announced on a rolling schedule and will incorporate the theme "What If?"
